Community Leadership and Economic Development Program (CLED)

The Community Leadership and Economic Development program was conducted at the Scott Research/Extension Center between January and March, 2007. The CLED program is a “hands on” course for anyone interested in helping their parish thrive in the new millennium. It is a community self-help program designed to bring together parish residents to learn more about their parish and to develop skills necessary to work on the major issues.
There were 10 sessions offered once a week for three hours. Dr. Sandy Dooley and Dr. Karen Overstreet with the LSU AgCenter coordinate the program and taught several of the sessions. Guest lecturers for the class were Kerry Everitt, Strategics Group, Steve Robichaux, Capital City Consultants, Brian Chapman, LED Training Team, H. Patrick Witty, LED Training Team and Rick Ward, ALEC.
Thirty people graduated from the course including eight juniors from Franklin Parish High School. Participants identified the following four issues they would like to address: education, recreational activities, jobs and government. |
